Taylor will practice at the Olive View Medical Center, the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital and Cedars Sinai Hospital. Taylor, who received her undergraduate degree from UCLA and her medical degree from USC, was selected in April 2009 to become the Chief Resident for the UCLA Tri-Campus Pediatric Residency Program in July 2010. She wants to become a mental health advocate in the Black community. Murray feels that it is very important to understand certain influences in patients that start in childhood.Īfter Murray completes this residency program she plans to apply for a childhood/adolescent psychiatry fellowship. “Since my objective is to practice child and adolescent psychiatry, the college environment is closer to the population I will ultimately be serving.”įrom a very early age Murray wanted to be a pediatrician, but her psychiatry rotation in medical school inspired her to concentrate on childhood/adolescent mental health instead. “This position is ideal for me because it gives me more autonomy and exposure to a repertoire of psychiatric issues college students face,” Murray said. This new position will bring Murray closer to goals as a doctor. UCLA trains its residents at various locations in order to give them exposure to different settings. Murray, who received her undergraduate and medical degrees from UCLA, is the Chief Resident of Psychiatry at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and the San Fernando Valley Mental Health Clinic.
